Diabetes-Related Items

Our connection to diabetes is our son, Andrew. He was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes in June of 2010, soon after his fifth birthday. Almost immediately, our family adopted the management regimen created by Dr. Richard K. Bernstein, as described in his national bestselling book, Dr. Bernstein's Diabetes Solution. As of July 2021, Andrew is 16 years old and 11 years past his T1D diagnosis, and has achieved and maintained A1c values very near to 5% for that entire time. In layman's terms, he is doing extremely well on the regimen and achieving remarkable success with diabetes management.

The Rivere Foundation

Lester is a student and proponent of low-carb eating and Dr. Richard K. Bernstein's diabetes management regimen. Lester is also a founding board member of the Rivere Foundation, a registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit that primarily does business as Let Me Be 83.

Mission:

To promote a diabetes management regimen, anchored in nutrition and the proper use of insulins, that allows people with diabetes to achieve near-to-normal blood glucose levels.

Goals:

  1. To inform patients of the choice, and
  2. To change standards of care that make success nearly impossible.
